Alan Clay
What a special treat that we are able to host a fabulous astrologer, and founder of Dwarf Planet Univerity out of New Zealand, Alan Clay.
Bio:
Alan Clay is a New Zealand writer and astrologer. He has just released a book on the astrology of the new dwarf planets called, New Stars for a New Era: A Consciousness Workbook for our 10 New Planets, which reviewers are calling “groundbreaking" and "highly recommended”.
His book, Sedna Consciousness, the Soul’s Path of Destiny was launched at the United Astrology Conference 2018 in Chicago. It is the ultimate reference on the planet Sedna, the new outer limit of our solar system.
In 2020, he founded the Dwarf Planet University, where he teaches online classes helping students understand the meaning of each of the dwarf planets in their personal chart. www.dwarfplanet.university
Alan will also have copies of his new book, New Stars for a New Era: A Consciousness Workbook for our 10 New Planets, available at cost price, US$20 (US$49 in the shops). This book gives you astrological interpretations for each of the 10 planets, and house interpretations with well know examples to bring them to life.

Workshop detail:
The outer planets represent aspects of consciousness, so we are on a consciousness adventure as we embrace these new trans-Neptunian planets. We start with Pluto’s lawless brother, Ixion, who encourages us to ask the question: Are the rules we are playing by the right ones?
Ixion opens us to seeker consciousness, urging us to push the boundaries and ask for forgiveness afterwards, rather than permission before. As we develop a spiritual approach, we enable our moral compass and learn to honor the ‘bad’ girl or ‘bad’ boy energy inside us and follow our heart. At this level, Ixion encourages us to be authentically ourselves following Pluto’s action to dissolve our ego center. We are one with the universe, but still exist as an individual, and that dichotomy is bridged by being authentically ourselves in our contact with the divine.
The next two planets, Haumea and Makemake remind us that divine matters are best approached in a playful way. Playfulness helps to remove the fear of failure in our consciousness adventure. There is no failure because all the data is valuable. It’s only a failure when we don’t integrate the experience, which means that the ‘bad’ outcome will happen again.
Haumea connects us to the psychic unity that exists across space and time, with the oneness of our existence. She does this in each moment by simply reigniting in us the magic of being alive. Haumea is the higher octave of Neptune, turning his psychic opening into real psychic connection. As we develop spiritually, she gives us a direct link with the soul level and, as we deepen this connection to Source, we learn to facilitate a constant renewal in our own lives and in the lives of those around us.
Makemake gives us a worldview built from our experience, and a view of our place in that world. He enables us to innovate and opens us to the new richness of systems consciousness. He is a spiritual trickster, allowing us to play with the area of life signified by his position in our chart. And he gives us a devotional focus that borders on genius, encouraging us to see ourselves as an organic whole, as well as a member of a team. We can look at him as the higher octave of Uranus, lifting Uranus’ intuition into a rich understanding.
As we travel out from Neptune, the planets become more and more spiritual, and Eris and Sedna are the two furthest out, with the most extreme orbits. Eris cuts through the ecliptic the strongest at 44 degrees, and Sedna has a comet shaped orbit of over 11,000 years, so these extremes talk about the crises we might encounter which morph our inner-Neptunian consciousness.
Eris is our diversity consciousness, where we learn to value everything and everyone for who they are. At the personal planet level, she encourages us to engage in discord and strife, so we learn to stop fooling ourselves, or stop being fooled. As we adopt a more spiritual approach, we understand that our strife can be dealt with simply by accepting opposing points of view. And at the highest level, she is a spirit-guide, transmuting life into love, and bringing sacred wisdom into our lives. Eris is the higher octave of Pluto, lifting his transformative energy into a fierce grace. This gives us a female power which is gentle in contact, but which rises to meet the needs of any challenge.
Sedna is our soul consciousness and her placement in our chart tells us what our soul really wants to do in this life. She is always trying to get us onto the spiritual path, and when we are unconscious of her energy, she sends us transcendent crises to help us let go of our old consciousness framework and transcend to a new one. As we step up to do the soul-based work that we are here to do, we move through a fated transcendence to a more transpersonal consciousness. We learn to embrace our spiritual destiny and joyfully do what our soul wants to do, and this brings us transcendent peace and the ability to nurture abundance.

Soul Entanglement
The Astrology of Leleakuhonua, the new outer limit of our solar system
SUNDAY
Discovered in 2015, Leleakuhoinua’s orbit is 5 times as long as Sedna, which has been the outer limit of our solar system since it was discovered in 2003. Sedna speaks of our spiritual destiny and all the experiences we have to go through to get to that destiny. And, because the planets become more spiritual the further out we go, Leleakuhonua steps Sedna’s soul consciousness up to become a unified soul-field, where, at the top level, we can see our soul reflected in the other souls in our lives.
The Sabian Symbol for Leleakuhonua's discovery degree, 7 degrees Aries, is A man successfully expressing himself in two realms at once. According to James Burgess this is about “Living both sides of each situation and waking up to life’s inherent polarities and possibilities… which requires us to develop 'reflective self-consciousness'. In other words, we need the ability to notice ourselves as if through somebody else's eyes.”
So Leleakuhonua represents a multidimensional consciousness, and this manifests differently in our lives depending on our current level of consciousness. If we are experiencing it at the unconscious level we might find we are vulnerable to the infectious spread of consciousness crisis, where we read the issues that our friends are having into our own lives and so create them. Or we could find that communication problems in one area of our lives spreads infectiously to the others.
Or we might get caught up in soul entanglement, where we have so many points of contact with one or more other souls in so many areas, that our souls become entangled, and as a result we might be working against ourselves in one area of our lives, as we try and maintain the communication in others.
The planet is named after a flock of migratory Kolea birds from the Hawaiian creation chant. Birds are spirit beings in myth, and the new born Kolea chicks are walking around and feeding within the first day, so they are independent. But the migration is a group effort, with all the birds flying in a V shape to minimise wind drag and all gradually rotating to the front, so that everyone has a turn doing the hard work of leading.
So Leleakuhonua teaches us to be both independent and interdependent as we pursue our big spiritual missions. And, as we develop spiritually, the entanglement of the unconscious level, becomes an uncanny interconnectedness which sustains and supports our spiritual growth. We learn to follow our heart in our divine work and realize that our spiritual growth supports the wider collective growth. At this level, our multi-dimensional consciousness connects us to the joy and love of our soul-mates.
And at the top level, we can develop an expanded spacetime awareness and we learn to trust in the longer journey. We have the tenacity and endurance to undertake a long enterprise or to do something big and important, and over time we may be able to bring about a rebirth of a new social balance. By trusting in our intuition, we find the stamina, patience and diligence to play our part in creating the new Earth.
